After coming across a video of the 'ex-secret' underground nuclear command bunker near Corsham (Bath, UK) on the BBC Wiltshire site, I thought it shouldn't be too dificult to find it on Google Earth... not so... a lot of bunkers in the area (around the Box Hill railway tunnel), but none quite seemed to look the same as in the video...
Came across a couple of sketchs maps on Alan Turnbull’s 'Secret Bases' site (lot's of interesting stuff here including recent military archeology) which identified the entrances (several lift shafts and escalators, plus air vents) and the network of underground streets, so had a go at overlaying these in GE.
The GE image overlay was fairly straight forward using the instructions within the GE help..
After cleaning up the image and creating a transparent PNG (transparent GIF wasn't transparent in GE for some reason), you just need to upload it and then manipulate it in GE to fit the landscape.
Results available in a KML file which also has placemarkers for the main surface features.
